Birmingham Airport sits conveniently close to Birmingham city center, at a distance of around 15 kilometers (10 miles), making it an easy 30-minute trip away. Birmingham Airport duty-free offers shoppers the opportunity to purchase the latest products, including perfume, aftershave, cosmetics, fashion accessories, sunglasses, fine wines, champagne and spirits, and gifts and souvenirs. There are lots of other shops, for those who want to indulge in a bit of retail therapy before they fly, selling books, clothes, jewelry, luggage, and practical last-minute travel items. Families with children can visit the Sky Zone, an interactive play area designed to keep kids entertained while waiting for their flight.

If you want to relax or work away from the crowds, Birmingham Airport has a handful of lounges to take advantage of. The lounges offer runway views, newspapers and magazines, widescreen televisions, comfortable chairs, and a selection of hot and cold food and drinks.

 

Getting around BHX

Birmingham Airport is small enough to be navigated on foot, with baggage trolleys to help make your journey easier. Passengers in need of special assistance are advised to pre-book with their airline or tour operator at least 48 hours before they fly. Courtesy mobility equipment is available and doesn’t need to be booked in advance.

 

Birmingham Airport hotels

A couple of hotels are located on-site at Birmingham Airport, and several more are located within 1.5 kilometers (one mile) of the terminal, one of which is linked by a rail shuttle. More hotels can be found in the nearby area of Bickenhill and on the A45 road that leads into Birmingham. For passengers who have a little more time on their hands, the city center has numerous accommodation options just a short Uber trip away.
